Our Ilocos Adventure - Bell Tower, Baluarte and Pagburnayan Pottery

It was around 6AM when we finished taking photos of Calle Crisologo then went to Grandpas Inn & Restaurant for breakfast, a couple of minutes away from Calle Crisolo.

Thanks to the food attendants to who took care to prepare and serve our breakfast after we came back to see the Bell Tower of Bantay Church at Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Bell Tower of Bantay Church
Located at Municipality of Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
Established in 1590, the church is one of the oldest in the Ilocos Region (Wiki)

I never thought I would see a lot of tourists (foreigners/Filipinos) in a very early schedule, but then I was so happy seeing other Filipinos experienced one of our country's heritage.

Chavit Singson's Baluarte

After breakfast we went to Baluarte.

The best thing about this place is that the admission and other amenities are FREE.
Thanks to Gov. Chavit Singson who owns this park and zoo.

It is actually Governor Chavit's gift to the people of Vigan where residents are accorded free use of spaces for their livelihood programs. Read More.

It was unfortunate for me that I wasn't able to check-out the whole place. I just felt so tired when we arrived in Baluarte, I took a quick nap from one the cabanas, while everyone was going around the zoo. However, despite of that, my family truly enjoys this place especially my son. Its a good thing also that Baluarte is included in the Ilocos tour package, tourists got to enjoy zoo esp. to those people who haven't been to the zoo for quite some time.

Pagburnayan Pottery

Still in Vigan City at Brgy. Pagburnayan you will find one of the famous tourists attraction, the Pagburnayan Jar Making. As far I can remember this is my first time to personally witness how jar was made, from clay to jar crafted by the experienced and skillful potter. Tourists are also given opportunity to experience the art of making jar, just be ready to get your hands dirty. =)

Various jars are available for sale whether for souvenir or furniture.
