Sharing the J.CO Way

Honestly, we like doughnuts (donut), but we're not really into it.

I think it was Sunday after church (weeks ago) when my friend Michelle first time  asked me if I have already heard J.CO donut. I said, "No, I haven't heard of it." With a smile of excitement and persuasive gesture, she told me as well as Rhea that we must try it and taste the difference.

She simply described J.CO's donuts as not sweet as the other donuts available on the market and this J.CO is located at SM Megamall, Ortigas.

Since we're from Muntinlupa, it is very seldom we go to Megamall. Which is why it is unlikely for us to try this J.CO donut. We prefer going home rather than going to Megamall.

After that conversation, whenever we met her or talked, she always asked me and Rhea if we have already gone to Megamall and tried this J.CO donut.

Two days ago, Rhea and I had a chance to go to Megamall, when we're about to leave Rhea remembered the Michelle and her donut -- that time, we forgot her donut bakeshop

So we phone Avel (Michelle's husband) and asked him about the name of this donut bakeshop.

So there it was, J.CO Donuts & Coffee located at Build B of SM Megamall, Ortigas.

Price:
P42/ pc
P230/ half dozen
P350/ dozen
P550/ 2 dozen

When I saw the donuts, I want to buy two dozen, but I bought only half just to say I have tried and see if it is worth of my second visit.

Michelle was right; it is not sweet as the other donut bakeshop have. It has a distinct set of donuts but still have the taste of donut (which make a donut, donut).

Before we completely emptied the box, we took a picture (after we already ate two donuts not more than a minute).

Lastly, I think we'll add donut to our favorites, especially when it opens another branch in Greenbelt, Makati soon. :)

We should be watching movie but since Spider Man has all the movie theaters, we went to SM MOA (Mall Of Asia) instead.

We had our dinner at A Venetto Pizzera (one of our favorites) then J.CO for dessert. :)

Father's Day of 2012 at Seafood Island

I don't know why but week before father's day, I already told Rhea that I had been craving for Seafood Island (Eating on a banana leaves without spoon and fork just Kamayan. Very traditional Filipino. Yummy!).

She said okay, will celebrate father's day at Seafood Island - Makati. Yey!:)

Finally, Father's Day.

After church, we fetched my parents and went to Greenbelt, Makati. Unfortunately, there was no available parking space, so we proceed to Glorietta.

While in Glorietta, we decided that we won't go for Seafood Island instead will go for Dads (because going to Greenbelt will take another 10-15 minutes walk). Taking our chances we went to Dads, Max's then Cabalen, all have waiting guests (As expected since everyone was celebrating Father's Day).

We're already hungry but still want to have Filipino food, we have no choice but to go to Greenbelt (it has plenty of choices of restaurants than Glorietta).

Seafood Island our first choice. Past 1PM when got there. Thank God, one table was still available (seems that it was waiting for us). There, we were seated around 1:35PM and ordered Kanyaman.

Two more group guests were seated after us.
After 3 minutes, our drinks were served, one regular and two bottom less iced tea.

Several minutes later, the battle started between my large and small intestines; large is already winning, so we made follow-ups.

Our mood started to change because every time we made follow-up they will say "Coming na po, pini-prepare na yung sa inyo (We're already preparing your order and will be served in no time)" but still no Kanyaman is coming to us.

Inside of me was already furious (to point that I want to go to the kitchen and yell to everyone "WHERE IS OUR ORDER?!!!!!!", WE SHOULD BE SERVED FIRST!!!) when I saw that they were already serving the food of the two guests (came in after us), but still I remained calm and call the attention of one of the servers. It was Unika/Unica (Supervisor). I calmly asked her why food of the two guests were already served what happen our order? Her face became confused then replied to me that they made their order while waiting. I told her how can that happened since you're the one who seated us. She said sorry and requested to prioritize our order (which they should already do, since they follow first it was first come first-serve basis -- unless they're not).

One alibi I hated most was when Unica told us that they had an Ayala problem because there was no water in the kitchen. She's just making an alibi, obviously, they're serving water to their guests. Anyway, she dealt with Rhea for that reason.

With several unlikely comments and follow-ups, they received and to make the story short; our food was finally served around 2:41PM.

Kanyaman (Incomplete)

Kare-kare and Sisig were served minutes after.

Honestly, I really lost my appetite and was my first time. I had to put myself together to have my lunch.

At the end, Unica said sorry for the very bad service they provided.

It was a very, very sad experienced for us, especially for my parents, who already are senior citizens to have their lunch around 3PM. We were very disappointed about the service, especially I was craving for their product. :(

Thanks to Kiel for making our day even though we had the worst dinning experience (so far).
He was very playful and entertained us with his smiles...:)

Buffet 101, Conquered.

Since we heard about the opening Vikings (A buffet restaurant in MOA - Mall of Asia) we've been planning to conquer (our term for dinning) it. Unfortunately, with some unavoidable circumstances, we're failed. I guess it is not yet right time.

Around 3PM of June 4, I received a SMS from Rhea, reminding me that I owe her a Yakimix treat.
Ok, let's have Yakimix for dinner.

5PM when I fetched in her office. I suggested, instead of Yakimix let's go for Vikings -- hoping that time, we'll conquer it. She agreed, so we went to Vikings - MOA. As walked-in guests, Rhea inquired for available seats.

Again, it's not yet our time to conquer Vikings.
We are #49 for waiting guests not including the reserved guests. :(

We almost end-up to the original plan (Yakimix) when we remember our friend told us to try Buffet 101.

Buffet 101, Conquered...
Eat and Drink All You Can
P690.00 - Monday to Saturday (Lunch)
P950.00 - Monday to Friday (Dinner)
+ 5% if you use Credit Card.

We were in Table No. 5, when all the conquering happened...

Our Second Set...

Rhea was already having her dessert while I was having my 3rd set -- my stomach still has space to be filled, which is why I took advantage to have my 3rd set.  :)

We only tried the crepe for dessert since we both craving for it that time.

Thanks to my lovely wife for preparing the crepe. :))

With a little, fewer choices of buffet (compare to other buffet restaurants), Buffet 101 offers some unique sets of food, which are not available to others (it is for you to find out). Burrrpp!! :)

Baler Trip 2012: Day 2 - Dinadiawan

Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, Aurora.

A Two - Three hours drive from Baler.

Going to Dinadiawan is not as easy as going to Baler (from Manila). The road is narrow and very rough but the local government already started working on paving the road so hopefully a year or two you can experience much comfortable travel.

This place is remote and far from busy streets of city life. I would say one of the best places for unwinding.

We stayed only for a day trip since we have Kiel and Jepay, but I'm looking forward to an overnight stay next time. :)

I enjoyed taking pictures of this place because almost everything about it, captivates me.

All these pictures were taken at Dinadiawan Beach Resort.

Entrance Fee : P70 adult and P50 children
Cottage : P500 - P750 day trip ; Overnight P3,500

1..2..3.. Smile... Miss you guys.. :)
