Our First Anniversary Escapade

I believed that in every couple, ANNIVERSARY is one of the much-awaited events that should be celebrated each year.

Manong Richard and his Kalesa
This is our first anniversary, and Rhea didn't know that I planned a simple and memorable celebration.

As start, I recalled all the things and places, she wanted to do and go then I came up these:

- she wanted me to treat her to BINONDO for a  food trip.
- she wants to experience to ride in PNR train
- she wants to experience to ride in Kalesa
- she wants me to take her to Rockwell

... not much but very special to her.

Thanks to my colleagues and a blog site where I took the place in Binondo as well as the food to be ordered.

So I made an itinerary, so I'll not forget anything. I've included some places to hang out so we can talk and plan for our future. ^^

January 8, 2012 our first Anniversary. We almost canceled our itinerary because of the cloudy and rainy weather. We prayed and decided to proceed with our plan.

We left the house past 8am to catch the 9:05am (PNR train) schedule, luckily we arrived 10mins before 9am. I got two tickets (P15 each) from Alabang bound to Pedro Gil Station, then from there we'll take two jeepney rides to Binondo. While waiting, we didn't forget to take the memorable experience:

Since we're on a food trip, we didn't have our breakfast.

Past 10am when we arrived in Binondo, and rain started to fall. Rhea told me that she was hungry, so we decided to have our early lunch at Wai Ying Fastfood. We look for Kelesa (carriage Philippine version) at ask the Kutsero (Kalesa driver) to bring us to the nearest Wai Ying branch.

Manong Richard (Kutsero) and his horse (Zorro) brought us to Wai Ying Fastfood at Benavidez St., Binondo. (Manong Richard and Zorro were already featured in Mel and Joey)

WAI YING FASTFOOD (BINONDO)

Fried GG (Pritong Galunggong) and Fried Milkfish (Pritong Bangus) are my favorites but my taste is not limited. As long it can be eaten, I want to try it.

Whenever I eat in a Chinese restaurant or fast food, Siomai is my default dumpling but this time it was not included in my menu.

I want to try something new, not an ordinary dish that you can buy in any Chinese fast food.

What they say about this fast food is true. The ambiance is not refreshing, but the food will refresh you.

"An ordinary fastfood with an extraordinary taste." :)

Since this is our first time at Wai Ying, I researched about their food, and I came across a blog site that featured Wai Ying, so why not try what they've tried. I think we'll be experienced what they did.  So it was.

LO MAI KAI

It is somewhat like Filipino Suman or Kakanin. Lo Mai Kai has a distinct sweet taste, maybe because of the flavored pork inside that savors to the whole Lo Mai Kai.

Rhea is not into Suman or Kakanin, but she likes Lo Mai Kai.

MILK TEA

This is good too. Rhea almost finish it in just one zip.

SHRIMP CHEONG FAN

Something new to us and taste good also, hope they would add more shrimp.

SOY CHICKEN

Definitely my favorite specially the ginger sauce.

FRIED DUMPLINGS

Rhea's favorite.

ICED TEA AND FRIED RICE

Lemon Iced Tea. Like! Like!

The fried rice is good for two.

Wai Ying Fastfood quenches our thirst and satisfies our hungry stomach for only P625.00. Burp! :)

After a superb lunch at Wai Ying, we'll go to Escolta and take a ferry to Guadalupe. Unfortunately, manong Richard told us that all the ferry stations in Escolta were closed already. Plan B! So I asked manong Richard take us for an Intramuros and Rizal Park tour via Kalesa.

Manong Richard told us the front 2nd building from the left is one of the oldest buildings in Philippines. He told us that it's already more than 300 years old. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask he name of this building. :(

A more expensive type of Kalesa in front of Fort Santiago.

Front of view inside manong Richard's Kalesa. Along Roxas Blvd about to cross UN Avenue, Manila.

Rhea with Zorro. Our last stop, Rizal Park in front of Sta. Isabel College (Along Taft Ave.).

It was an enjoyable and memorable experienced because not every person have chance to do that. It's more fun in the Philippines. :)

We took a cab from Rizal Park to Rockwell. We stroll for a while then look for Haagen-Dazs for an  ice cream but when we can't find it, we were told that they already pulled-out their store. So we went to UCC for coffee.

We would watch Mission Impossible 3 but when we saw the long queue we, decided to go to Glorietta hoping that could watch a movie.  Glorietta 4, same as Rockwell; since watching movie is no longer possible because of the schedule, we decided to go for a spa, so we went to ParkSquare (I forgot the name.  In the spa, we were told that our schedule is 7:30PM, we declined it and went to Festival Mall. Finally, we had our body massage at WAM Medical SPA then to meet Ryan (Rhea's brother) for dinner. We had our dinner at La Aplaya then went home.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MINE, LET'S GET IT ON.
