Like other provinces in the Philippines known for their distinct food products, Ilocos also offers a variety of delicacies.
Aside from Vigan Longganiza, Bagnet, Pinakbet, Sukang Iloko (fermented vinegar from Ilocos), etc. Ilocos also known for their special Empanada.
We've tried Empanada from Laoag (Ilocos Norte) and Vigan (Ilocos Sur), both offers satisfying fullness and distinctively tasty.
Laoag Empanada
The Empanada is a vintage merienda of the Ilocanos. It is a delicious
snack, similar to the Mexican Taco, of sauted cabbage or papaya with
egg and (Vigan Longganiza) stuffed in a crispy shell made from ground
rice.
It is sentimental favorite not only for Bigueños but also every for Ilocano, young and old alike.
Vigan Empanada
It's a must when you're in Ilocos. :)
